I have the same problemDoes too much shampoo lead to grey hair and/or hair loss?
Well shampooing every day does put your hair through some stress. Hair is weakest when it's wet, so the more often you wet it, the more often your hair is vulnerable to damage. If you're brushing it when it's wet, and blowdrying it on a very high heat every day, that can easily lead to damage too.
Most shampoos contain SLS, or Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates, which are basically degreasing agents. They are strong, and can be irritants (they've actually been used by laboratories to cause irritation to the skin of rats). Apparently people with sensitive scalps can find constant use of SLS causes them to develop an itchy scalp, with hair loss.
There are shampoos out there that don't contain SLS. Have a look in healthfood shops and you'll find SLS-free shampoos (like Nature's Gate and others). The only trouble with SLS-free is that it may not remove grease from your hair quite as well.
Anyway, if your hair loss is significant (more than 100 hairs a day) you should probably see a doctor. There might be an underlying health problem causing it. Nothing you can do about the greys but dye over them unfortunately :)
no it dosent. the only way it will cause hair loss is if you rub your hair really harshly. and i know ppl that have washed their hair every day of their life and their hair isnt grey.
It is inadvisable to shampoo your hair everyday. use conditioner often than just shampoo.
no it wont. but it takes out the natural oils your hair produces, and makes it go greesier quicker.
no. grey hair and hair loss is down to yer genes. my dad always blamed too much brylcreem for his baldness
no it does not but genetics play a huge part in that.
No! but it strips your natural oils away from your hair which can make it more greasy
