What could be the cause of feline hair loss?

Two of our cats are losing their fur. Here's what's going on.

New cat:

was losing her fur when she was given to us. We thought it was stress. Her fur is very dry and she keeps grooming herself. The hair loss is on the lower half of her body, and is the worst at the base of her tail.

Other kitty:

has caught whatever it is that the new kitty brought. Except a little different. He has little raised bumps and is very itchy. He is grooming his fur a lot and is starting to lose the fur on the lower half of his body.

What could be causing this? Is there a cure? Is it affordable?

*neither cat has fleas. Neither cat has come into contact with chemicals. It can't be allergies because allergies are not contagious*

Your new kittie has probably brought a parasite with him.

Take them to the vet for a skin scraping test..What could be the cause of feline hair loss?
have them checked by your vet could be worms or a parasite or mange all which can be treated by your vet. also take a stool sample with you as parasites and some worms can only be seen under a microscope
