I'm not sure if my hair loss has to do with the fact that I use to use shampoos with sodium laureth sulfate?

I have recently been hearing that hair loss isn't always hereditary and that this chemical commonly found in shampoos also causes hair thinning and hair loss. Is this true? I also want to know that if I start using sulfate-free shampoos, if it could slow down the process?I'm not sure if my hair loss has to do with the fact that I use to use shampoos with sodium laureth sulfate?
